Physical Therapy
The physical therapy department at Bright Beginnings Learning Center consists of licensed, experienced and dedicated pediatric therapists who provide skilled and evidenced based practices to children ages three to twelve within their educational environment.
- They are committed to their students and strive to help them achieve their utmost potential, maximizing their functional independence in the school setting according to their IEP mandates.
- They work as a team in conjunction with the teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists and case managers to ensure that all of their IEP goals are met and to ensure carryover throughout the school day.
- Some of the techniques used include but not limited to: task specific motor training, motor planning skills, range of motion, balance activities, endurance and fitness training, posture and positioning training, gait training, strength training, sensory-motor techniques and equipment management.
- The therapists meet regularly with the durable medical equipment vendors at the school to ensure that their students have the appropriate equipment and orthotics that will most benefit them.
- When appropriate, they will accompany students on swim trips and other community outings.
- Members of the physical therapy staff work mostly in a dedicated therapy gym and in the classroom when needed.
- Some of the equipment that is used include: platform swing, bolsters, different size therapy balls, floor mats, ankle weights, balance beam, wedges, obstacles, balance board, BOSU, playground balls, trampoline, different size step stools, ramp, and targets.
- We pride ourselves on strong and frequent communication with families. We provide them with Home Exercise Programs and functional expertise during onsite equipment and vendor appointments.
